Munich - The International Accreditation Service (IAS) has accredited TÜV SÜD’s state-of-the-art food testing lab in Vizag for a period of three years. Consequently, food products testing in TÜV SÜD’s lab complies with pre-set standards and lab operation rules of the international accreditation body and ISO/IEC 17025 standard. The lab has established a quality management system that meets the principles of ISO 9001 and is also certified in accordance with the recognized International Standard ISO/IEC 17025.
With India being one of the largest exporters of seafood, this lab presents the opportunity to improve the footprint of TÜV SÜD in South Asia. Globally, the labs are located at the doorsteps of food producers and the lab in Vizag is no different. “We look forward to working closely with local exporters and help them improve the acceptability of their consignments across the globe. We are honoured that our lab in Vizag is one of the first food testing laboratory in India accredited by a US based accreditation body”, explains Niranjan Nadkarni, CEO, TÜV SÜD South Asia.
The accreditation will enable the lab to test seafood, spices, meat, beverage and other products in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 on both national and international test standards. The quality assurance services at the testing lab will act as a quality gate between producers, manufacturers and buyers. TÜV SÜD also provides certification for FSSC 22000, BRC, HACCP, ISO 22000 and IFS. Some of the globally recognised inspection services from the Vizag lab will include, during production (DUPRO) inspection, initial production check (IPC), final random inspection (FRI), hygiene inspection and loading supervision.
