Munich - The Annual Report of the TÜV SÜD Group is the "Best Annual Report 2013". A jury of experts voted the publication into first place in the renowned Private Public Award. The competition included the 250 leading family- and foundation-owned companies in terms of revenue. The Private Public Award is organised by ergo kommunikation and the accounting company PKF.
Around one-quarter of Germany’s top 250 family- and foundation-owned companies in revenue terms issue an Annual Report. These publications were evaluated against over 100 criteria which permitted a detailed analysis of all parts of the reports. Given this, the Private Public Award exceeds the requirements of most other competitions. Beyond analysing individual aspects of the reports of unlisted companies (such as the layout) it delivers an exact benchmark of the quality of the content, language and graphics. The final rating was also influenced by the quality of financial reporting (Management Report & Annexes), the corporate image section, the general design and the use of digital media.
TÜV SÜD's Annual Report fared above average in all these categories. The jury was particularly impressed by the lead theme of the publication – "Trust". "TÜV SÜD's winning report very appropriately focuses on trust as a key success factor and the transparent presentation of the business situation is also very trust-inspiring", said Dr Martin Fasselt, member of the jury and partner at the PKF accounting company. The corporate image section – a magazine unusually in A3 format – and the cross-media approach, comprising a print edition, an online edition and a separate app, received top marks.
Excellence in financial reporting was acknowledged by another accolade: TÜV SÜD's 2013 Annual Report was ranked second in the category "Best Management Report". "This award confirms that our financial reporting is transparent and comprehensible", says Stefan Lembert, Head of Corporate Finance and Accounting at TÜV SÜD. "We orient our reporting to the requirements for listed companies and have thereby managed to overtake renowned companies", adds Katharina Höfner, Corporate Accounting.
TÜV SÜD's Annual Report is a joint project by Corporate Communications and Corporate Finance and Accounting. "Following a silver medal for the 2012 Annual Report in the BCP Award this spring and various design awards in recent years, the gold medal in the Private Public Award is a great acknowledgement of our work", says Matthias Andreesen Viegas, Head of Corporate Communications at TÜV SÜD.
