Tokyo, Japan - TÜV SÜD Zacta, a member of one of the world’s leading technical service organisations, has significantly expanded its capabilities at the Yonezawa Testing center by opening an additional 10-meter chamber for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing. This chamber is also equipped for specific absorption rate (SAR) testing for wireless devices, further enhancing the TÜV SÜD Zacta testing portfolio.
The additional EMC chamber is equipped with a 5 meter/3 meter dual turntable and is able to conduct testing on large industrial equipment or vehicles weighing up to 4 tonnes. With this expansion, TÜV SÜD will be one of the very few test laboratories to offer a battery of testing services from a single location – EMC testing, radio-frequency testing (including SAR testing), product safety testing, reliability testing and software evaluation.
Since TÜV SÜD Zacta joined the TÜV SÜD group in April 2012, the testing capabilities of the laboratory have continuously expanded. TÜV SÜD Zacta has not only strengthened its EMC testing business but also that of product safety testing. In spring 2013, TÜV SÜD Zacta was recognised under the CB Scheme to conduct testing and issue CB test reports to international standards IEC 61010-1 and IEC 60950-1. From October 2013, all TÜV SÜD testing activity in Japan relating to medical devices was also added to the TÜV SÜD Zacta portfolio.
Dr. Andreas Stange, Chief Regional Officer of TÜV SÜD in Japan commented, “This is another very important step in strengthening TÜV SÜD’s leading position among third party testing and certification organisations in Japan and demonstrates our commitment to the Japanese market and our Japanese clients. Further significant investments in test facilities are currently ongoing in Tokyo, where a new test centre will be opened shortly. This new test centre will consolidate testing activities for medical devices, smart cards and near field communication equipment and software evaluation and further enhance our testing capabilities in Japan.”
