SINGAPORE - TÜV SÜD today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Bin Thuan Wind Energy Association (BTWEA) to offer technical support for the latter’s and its members’ wind energy projects in Vietnam. Also, the parties have agreed to organize public workshops for local Vietnamese wind power-related businesses. The objectives of this partnership are to develop Vietnam’s nascent wind power industry and further reduce the country’s dependency on conventional energy options.
“In the effort to reduce carbon reduction, many Governments around the world are turning towards wind power as a key component of their clean energy mix. Vietnam is doing the same. Surveys have shown that the country, has rich wind resources and a higher wind energy potential than any country in ASEAN. Thus it is a great honor to be chosen by BTWEA to become their partner,” said Mr. Somuraj Sathish Kumar, General Director, TÜV SÜD Vietnam.
He added, “We understand the challenges faced by BTWEA and its members. The wind energy industry is highly-competitive. BTWEA and its members need the support from an independent, third-party wind power expert like TÜV SÜD to ensure their wind power projects are earning maximum returns with minimum risks. They can depend on us for an objective and highly competent view on any aspects related to the wind energy value chain. Other than technical support, TÜV SÜD will also organize public workshops for BTWEA and its members. They can now attend these workshops and have access to information on topics such as technical due diligence whenever and wherever they want.”
“BTWEA is set up by our Government to put in place relevant policies and develop a plan to maximize our country’s wind energy potential. We chose TÜV SÜD because we know they are truly an independent, third-party testing and inspection with over 145 years of experience. Their experts and reports are depended upon worldwide. By leveraging on their strengths and expertise, we can help ensure our projects and our members’ businesses remain competitive. We look forward to a positive partnership with TÜV SÜD and count on their support for our members as well,” said Mr Bui Van Thinh, Vice Chairman of BTWEA.
