SINGAPORE – Senoko has been serving Singapore’s power generation needs since 1976. Since then, it has established itself as the country’s largest energy supplier. Recognizing the impact its operations have on the environment and neighboring communities, Senoko sought the help of TÜV SÜD to certify the efficiency and efficacy of its energy management system. After a year’s effort, Senoko is now ISO50001- certified by TÜV SÜD.
“Senoko now supplies more than 25% of Singapore’s electricity. Environmental sustainability and efficient use of resources are therefore very high on our agenda. By pursuing ISO50001 certification with TÜV SÜD, we established a framework aimed at ensuring an even more efficient use of energy. TÜV SÜD has been our certification partner for more than a decade. Other than ISO50001, TÜV SÜD has certified us for ISO9001, ISO14001, OHSAS 18001 and BCM. Together, we have gained a deeper understanding of how to improve our energy efficiency performance. This in turn should allow us to minimise our impact on the environment,” said Mr. Brendan Wauters, President & CEO, Senoko Energy.
“TÜV SÜD is privileged to have supported Senoko in its ISO50001 certification journey. Despite Senoko’s leading position in the industry, it did not forget its responsibilities to protect and preserve our natural environment and enhance Singapore’s long-term economic sustainability,” expressed Mr. Richard Hong, CEO, TÜV SÜD PSB. “Senoko has no doubt set a very good example to the rest of Singapore. Other organizations will now be more motivated to follow in Senoko’s footsteps to conserve resources and tackle climate change.”
